Street Feeding - Feeding Program |
Each
Friday night we cook up huge pots of food to distribute on the streets
of Cebu … Colon … Pier 4 and the cemetery. So many are
hungry … we started this ministry in faith with just one small
pot … it has now grown to feeding more than 1000 each Friday
evening.
We are provided support from the local Barangay Police for our safety
and that of our teams that visit. For most of the families this is
their only food for the night …
Children and young babies are sleeping on nothing more than strips
of cardboard …. Young mothers try to build a house on the corner
… washing their children’s clothing in the gutter …
hanging them along a piece of string from street post to traffic light
… a stark reminder that they just want to live a “normal”
life …
Children growing up in these conditions are at greater risk of contracting
life threatening illnesses … being bitten by rats as they sleep
along the streets … they often don’t attend school …
and if they do … they are often poor achievers.
